A beautiful antique monastery work created by the nuns in the mid 1800’s from Tragacanth (plant gum) and polychromed (painted in colour) depicting The Flight into Egypt - a story recounted in the Gospel of Matthew - an angel appeared to Joseph in a dream telling him to flee to Egypt with Mary and the infant Jesus. The sculpture is surrounded with textile and paper flowers. The artwork is protected by an original antique glass dome. Rare antique monastery artwork in very good condition. Dating back to the period of mid 1800's.

General: The overall dimensions are height 8.3 inches (21cm) and width 3.9 inches (10 cm). Depth is 2.8 inches (7cm). The overall dimensions of artwork are height 7.5 inches (19cm) and width 3.5 inches (9cm).
