St Rochus Wooden Statue | 1700s Antique | 35.8" / 91 cm
A RARE, large and beautiful French church antique (18th / 19th century) wooden sculpture depicting Saint Rochus (or St ROCH, St Rocco, St Rock) the patron saint of bachelors, dogs, falsely accused peaple and invalids. Comes with a bronze halo / aureola. Great carving artistry on this sculpture with huge amounts of details. The sculpture is set on a later replacement wooden base. It comes from a monastery in France and dates back to the 1700s / 1800s.
